I would like to make you guys aware of something great and positive going on in our community. A regular working man & father by the name of Cedric Jackson started an outdoor youth basketball league called “STOP THE VIOLENCE STREET BALL”. The ages range from age 4 up to 12 years old and not only do the children get to run around and play basketball but they are taught about important issues we face on a daily basis such as bullying, fighting and other topics related to violence. The first game of the season was today 6/27/15 and was kicked off with a few words of support from the MPD. The entire league staff is composed of volunteers who just want to see children doing something positive with their time. That includes referees, coaches, score keepers, clean up crew and more.
