A couple’s love affair with Target inspired a memorable photo shoot at a West Virginia store last month.
Corey and Lauren Rexroad celebrated their 1-year anniversary by recreating their wedding day photos at their Morgantown Target store, a fitting backdrop for the couple’s first year of marriage.

The Rexroads, who married September of 2015, spent the last year adorning their new home in Target merchandise. So when it came time to commemorate their anniversary, the store became the obvious pick.
“We wanted to do something off the beaten path,” said Lauren Rexroad, a 22-year-old X-ray technician. “I brought up Target and Callie took up the idea and ran with it.”
Callie Lindsey, the couple’s photographer and another Target devotee, set up the shoot, which drew a group of onlookers.
“A lot of people thought we were actually getting married in Target,” Lauren said. “They thought we were completely crazy.”
The photos featured Lauren in her wedding dress and Corey, a 23-year-old software engineer, in a tuxedo posing in different store settings. They embraced outside the front doors, sat together on a couch in the home furnishings section and tossed popcorn in the snack bar. Lauren even touched up her makeup in the cosmetics aisle.
It was, Lindsey said, “probably the most exciting thing to happen at Target in awhile.”
Images of the shoot turned up on Snapchat that night. Soon the photos and the their story was picked up by national media outlets. Target even tweeted one of the photo from their Twitter account.
The couple hopes they won’t forever be known as “The Target Couple, but said they were blessed by the outpouring of love they’ve received since becoming overnight celebrities.
“I was completely shocked because Corey and I are not those types of people,” Lauren said. “This is like a one in a lifetime thing. It’s been a crazy roller coaster.”
