New Features Teased
Dubbed the “New age Baleno”, the carmaker has teased a few features before its arrival.
Some of the “new age” features include an HUD, 9-inch infotainment screen and 360-degree surround camera.
The 9-inch infotainment screen comes with Android and Apple connectivity along with USB-A and USB-C ports for the rear seats.
Safety
It will also be equipped with Hill Hold Assist (HHA), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) along with ABS and EBD, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.
It will also be the first Maruti Suzuki model to have six airbags- side and curtain airbags- in the top-end variants.
The earlier mentioned 360-degree camera is a segment first and the HUD is new for the company.
The 360-degree-view camera gives a real-time view of the car’s surroundings using feed from multiple cameras around the car.
This helps navigate blind spots which helps manoeuvre and park in tight spaces without clipping your bumpers.
Trims, Platform, Engine
The car will be offered in six variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Zeta (O), Alpha and Alpha (O).
It is built on the Heartect platform with improved safety standards.
It runs on the same 1.2-litre DualJet four-cylinder petrol engine minus the mild-hybrid technology.
The K-series, Dual VVT engine produces 90 PS of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 4,400 rpm.
The only fuel-saving tech in the car is the idle start/stop technology that detects when the vehicle is idle and switches it off to save fuel.
Transmission, Mileage
The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, but the Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants get the option of 5-speed AMT.
The MT is claimed by ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) to have a fuel efficiency of 22.35 kmpl while the AMT boasts a mileage of 22.94 kmpl.
This makes the new Baleno once again the most fuel-efficient among its rivals, with the Hyundai i20 being the only one coming close.
