Apple recently released its first iOS 13 update of the year to enhance user experience via bug fixes and security updates. Among improvements, the latest iOS 13.3.1 update brings major update that will enable users to disable the location-tracking functionality of the U1 Ultra Wideband chip. This essentially means that there is an option to toggle between on and off button location-tracking.
This is an important update since it brings a fix for tracking users’ location even when it is disabled, which was earlier not the case as reports stated that iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, specifically, could track location even after the location tracking was switched off as there are international regulatory requirements that mandate the disabled at some locations.
However, after the update, iPhone users will find a new “Network & Wireless” toggle under the Location Services settings in Privacy.
Apart from this there are also particular fixes for Communication Limits that could allow a contact to be added without entering the Screen Time passcode. Another interesting update is the introduction of support for Indian English Siri voice for its upcoming smart speaker HomePod. The HomePod, which is expected to come to India soon, will be priced at ₹19,900.
Here is a lowdown on all the myriad improvements and bug fixes that the latest iOS update brings:
-Adds a setting to control the use of location services by the U1 Ultra Wideband chip
-Addresses an issue that could cause a momentary delay before editing a Deep Fusion photo taken on iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro
-Resolves an issue with Mail that could cause remote images to load even when the “Load Remote Images” setting is disabled
-Fixes an issue that could cause multiple undo dialogues to appear in Mail
-Addresses an issue where FaceTime could use the rear-facing ultra-wide camera instead of the wide camera
-Resolves an issue where push notifications could fail to be delivered over Wi-Fi
-Fixes an issue where O2 customers could experience intermittent network connectivity
-Addresses a CarPlay issue that could cause distorted sound when making phone calls in certain vehicles
Apple has already released the latest iOS update for all iPhones and iPads and you can either let the updates get downloaded and installed automatically (if you have that settings on) or you can do it manually too. For downloading and installing the iOS 13.3.1 update manually, go to Settings > General > Software Update. Note that the update gets downloaded only via Wi-Fi, so connect it to your Wi-Fi.
